Our planning year runs from September through August.
The Friends of Dogwood appreciate the Maintenance and Operations Teams provided during the year. It would be challenging to do many of the projects with their help - both with equipment and manual lifting.
Special thanks to Joe & Robyn Stayton, Steve Vetter, Tommy & Becky Tipton, John & Susan Nuttall, and Terry Winzig for helping out with the work days all year.
The $$ for Dogwood Tournament was very successful with a full complement of Teams. It was another beautiful day and the proceeds funded our projects for the year.
In late January, we replaced the Hitting Nets and the mulch with pea gravel. Tommy Tipton redesigned the cabling system so the nets hang freely and reduce the impact of wind.
Redbud Seeds for the Dogwood Forest - We spread Redbud seeds under the tree canopy on #4 , #11 and #8 in late February. We are looking to gather many more seeds this fall and see if we can get some natural color in forested areas.
The area behind the #7 Green was refreshed. A cap was added to the wall with help from the Maintenance Team. We added landscape fabric and rocks to help make this area 'maintenance-free'. Rocks were also added to the #5 flowerbed.
The Maintenance Team breakroom was updated with new tables and chairs. We also replaced a mishmash of cabinets with stainless steel counters and storage areas. Now, the food prep is together and there is a place for everyone to sit down.
